About Us
Two very energetic and highly committed members of the IDEA League Kim Skriba and Dr. Brenda Young Ferrell, Ph.D. have come together to produce a quilt. Not just any quilt, but a quilt that will help the IDEA League to spread the word about Dravet Syndrome and how it impacts on those affected by it.
Dr. Brenda Young Ferrell, Ph.D. (in French), mother to Dravet child, Brian T. Ferrell, age 15, through the years of staying home with her son, has developed the hobby of quilting. Brenda has decided to make a gift that will represent our Dravet Children in a very special way, a Dravet Quilt. Learn more about Brenda by clicking here….
Kim Skriba will be coordinating the effort and making sure every participant gets what they need to ensure a successful and fun filled project. Kim will also be responsible for creating the accompanying documentation outlined below. Learn more about Kim by clicking here….
The Dravet Quilt will be a collection of 8″ (inch) square blocks, designed by people who have been affected by the rare form of epilepsy known as Dravet Syndrome. This quilt will be a “CELEBRATION of our Dravet Kids.” and have affectionately been called the “Blocks of Love”.
After all the blocks of love have been received, Brenda will design one large quilt that will bring recognition to Dravet Syndrome, as well as to those who suffer from this disease. This quilt will be displayed at national and international events, as well as fundraiser’s, and any other events that the IDEA League Executive Board deems appropriate. As the quilt travels, it will be accompanied by the notebook of “Companion Letters,” and several graphs and maps.
- Map 1 will have dots on it indicating where the quilt blocks have come from.
- Map 2 will have stars on it indicating where the quilt has been exhibited.
- Graph 1 will indicate where Block A from contributor A is located on the final quilt, etc.
- List 1 of state and country for each block.
- Guest Book for people to write the date and comments about the quilt.
